Climate and environmental systems science, systems biology and ecology, the history of economic systems, colonialism, and labor, futures studies, degrowth, biodiversity, health sciences.
HUMAN ATLAS
Coffee Atlas maps the human, social, and ecological systems that make coffee possible — from its colonial past to its uncertain future. Not a course about origins as marketing slogans, but about people, migrations, land, politics, and climate. You will explore coffee-growing regions through the lens of history, power, and resistance — how coffee moved with empire, how climate shifts are reshaping these maps, and how land rights and rural labor define what traceability really means.
HOW IT WORKS
Coffee Atlas runs in-person over 3 full days of lectures, group discussions, and climate mapping workshops. The online version follows the same structure — 3 sessions of 5 hours each, conducted in the language of the trainer, with practical exercises and community reflection. Both formats deliver 15 hours of work. You leave with tools to read coffee regions, identify environmental risks, and build respectful trade partnerships.
