Coffee is a compound — a complex of molecules, meanings, and memories. Compound is a deep dive into the chemistry, physics, and biology that define coffee beyond the flavor wheel. You will learn how transformations during processing, roasting, and brewing shape what ends up in the cup. From lipids to acids, polysaccharides to aromatic compounds, you will discover the hidden architecture of coffee quality and design coffee that is honest and replicable.

HOW IT WORKS

Compound is delivered in-person over 5 full days of lab-based experiments, guided tastings, and lectures. You work with real samples, test variables, and build a scientific framework for reading and adjusting coffee at every stage — from green composition to extraction. Sessions are hands-on, with group discussions and shared rituals woven throughout the programme.
